I hate this stupid cabled coat.

I am so over kniting Vogue Knitting's Cabled Coat. So, so so over it. First, there were A BUNCH of mistakes in the pattern, two, I cant get anything else done because I want to finish it soon! I am down to one sleeve, and I am starting tonight the raglan cap decrease. Then after that, is weaving in ends (pukes) and assembling it (pukes again).

There are SO many other things I need to get done! My brother's hat and mittens! It's his Christmas presents, I have to get my ass in gear! I still have a skein and a half of Curran from Three Irish Girls to turn into newborn pants. And I still have two skeins from yarny_bits to make baby items out of. That's not even counting on the fact that if I find out on Dec 17th that I'm having a girl, I will be ordering TONS of stuff from Three Irish Girls as they have way too many cute girly colors.

Also, it's winter and I need a hat. I want to knit myself a short row hat but I dont know where I'll find the time.

I have way too many things to knit and too little time :-(

I hate the Vogue Knitting Website

So the goddamn Vogue Knitting website has been down for FUCKING EVER. I *knew* there was a mistake on the instructions, as it said that the 4-LC was slip 2 sts to cable needle, P2, P2 from needles when it should have been P2 and then *K2* from cable needle. I figured that out when I was almost done the done with the godet, had to unfrog it all because it looked wrong. I specifically looked online everywhere to see if there was a correction, and I finally found on Ravelry someone that said yeah, that instruction should be P2, K2. Ha!

I again looked for the vogue site, which was still down. I managed to hunt an alternate site for it, with corrections and NONE WAS LISTED.

Great.

Now, I am done with the back, the two pieces of the front, the godet, I am 3/4 done with the collar (knitting both pieces at the same time), I've got one sleeve done, so I'm only missing one sleeve, and I to finish the collar pieces.

And now bingo the Vogue Knitting Website is up and WHAT DO YOU KNOW LOOK AT THIS CORRECTION FOR MY CABLED COAT:

PATTERN #30 Cabled Coat
photo on page 146, instructions on page 200

Chart 1 on page 202, row 9 is incomplete.
Please insert an RT in between the 4-st LC and the 4-st RC on the left side of the chart.

*cries long, hot tears*

I *KNEW* it was missing a RT there, damnit, but hey, couldnt find any mention of a correction and it looked ok without, so I continued.

Fuckers.

New yarn goodness.

I'm going to make these pants, but probably with a different, more cutesy girly cuff, with the purple skein.

I have not decided yet which patterns I'm going to do with the other two. I might do a boyish version of this soaker I just finished and LOOOVE LOVE LOVE to death.

The colors are just amazing.

Right now, I'm working on these:

I love the colors so much I want to roll around in it. Who needs porn when you've got pretty yarn? Oh and this project is from this pattern. Very nice so far!

And I also finished this soaker

It turned out way way way too small. I'm talking newborn size, here. I had heard that this pattern was actually quite big, so I knit it on much smaller needles. Yeah, I shouldnt have done that. But hey, I wouldn't have had enough of that yarn to do a much bigger version of this one anyway! It came from this pattern.

Anyway, I got new yarn and I'm done know what to do - keep working the pants I started already or start a new one. In which color?

There is not enough hours per day for stuff I want to knit!

WIP

Right now, I'm working on this soaker, from this pattern

Also, on this damn slippers

And this huge comfy shawl

The shawl I started ages ago and wont finish it for a while now. The slippers have to be done TODAY because I am sick of them.

And soon I'll get my yummy yarn and I really wont know what to work on!

Yarn's coming in the mail!

I am currently eagerly waiting yarn in the mail.

Mesto, Pink and brown and Anuk, all amazingly soft pure merino wool.

And the other two are Sunset and Revolution, also 100 pure merino wool, but dyed by the lady who runs this community

So many things to do now! I need soakers and longies for my son, and for my friend Jenn's daughters. Plus I want to make a few extra soakers to put up for sell.

I printed out a bunch of patterns and I am way excited to start them!

I need to update this more often. Or, I need to take more pictures of my stuff so I can have content to update with :-p

I have been cheating on my knitting needles with my crochet hook lately, I must confess. Results have been this super cute poncho for my stepdaughter:

I have also made this crocheted baby blanket for a friend of Max and I who's due to give birth to a baby girl any day now:

And remember the slippers I showed on my previous post? Well my coworker liked them so much that she is going to pay me to make some for her nieces! Sweet! I already made the first pairs, kitty slippers this time

Once I am done those, I will finish my pedicure socks so I can finally start my nice pair of socks with the yarn I bought with my friend Caroline.

Most update more

Since my last post here, I made:
-I finished the pink and gren baby longies I was making
-I made a ruffled soaker with leftover yarn from the longies
-A hat for me, but didnt check my gauge, so it ended up being a hat for my stepdaughter A
-A cute poncho for stepdaughter M with girly colors with yarn from my stash
-Approximately 4 more pairs of slippers for the house

See how cute that slipper was:

I started-a cute crocheted baby blanket for a friend who is due in June. I'm almost done that.
-started these pedicure socks. It was my first time knitting socks, and holymotherofthegods I held the yarn way way way too tight and when I was almost done the first one, I tried it on and it wouldnt go over my heel. Unravelled it altogther.
-Tried my hand at extreme knitting. I cast on and knit a few rows and realized I totally could do this.

On top of those dog slippers I made up there for sd M, I made bunny slippers for sd A and bear slippers for son A. They look so good that coworker S wants me to make three pairs for her nieces and nephew. I am charging her 30 bucks for all three pair. I have to get started on those and since I am bored to death of knitting slippers, I am going to use that technique and double knit them. I could use a challenge, and to make that extra challenging, I am also using two strands of yarn to make those slippers. Now we'll see if I'm in this for real...

After the slippers, I plan to:
-start another crochet blanket from a pattern found
-start and finish the pedicure socks again, double knitting them this time.
-get started on a pair of socks using the nice and (rather) pricey yarn I bought at L'Éffiloché the other day.

And let's not forget that I still have that shawl I started. I'm about halfway through and havent worked on it for months now. Boo me.

Me = not so smart

Note to self

When you are not using the correct needle size, and by far at that (say size 9 instead of 13), for the love of god and all that is holy, make a gauge swatch.

That way next time, maybe you can avoid knitting an entire slipper from a new, cool pattern only to realize once your done that the only person it would fit would be someone with medium size feet with the width and circumference of a weiner sausage.

Thank you,

Yourself

Definately not in need of a new project for now

We're building a new house, in which we're moving in in a month.

The kids' playroom will be in the basement. And for the time being, we're not gonna put carpet in, we'll just paint the cement floor. It's going to be cold for feet down there.

So I'm knitting slippers. All kinds of slippers. I've printed out about a dozen patterns, and I will make a pair of slippers per pattern. All different. A very good way to get rid of my old stash of synthetic yarns.

No ugly boring regular phentex slippers at my house.

Despite my pink and green baby longies project, yesterday I made a slipper using this pattern http://ingridknits.tripod.com/lenore.htm. And I cast one and knit about a dozen rows from this pattern http://www.duke.edu/~ect3/knitting/slippers_pattern.html. Very cool.

And I also have my big comfy shawl ongoing. I'm about half way done on this.

I have too many cool things going on at once!

My current project

Fetching gloves I made a while back

A blanket I made

Another blanket I made as a gift for my cousin's newborn daughter

The baby pants I'm making (almost finished!) for my son

Everyone's doing a knitting blog so why can't I?

Bonus point to whoever realized I was channeling The Cranberries.

Images of past, present and future work to come soon.
